Grandma's Help For Christmas

Program overview

The 288th House of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc

The Theta Mu Lambda Charitable Foundation’s annual Grandma’s Help for Christmas program is a collaborative effort with Theta Mu Lambda, a chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity incorporated, to provide Christmas gifts to low-income families in the south suburbs of Chicago. The program aims to spread holiday cheer and ease the financial burden on struggling families during the festive season.

The program works in the following way:

  1. Partner Recruitment: The Theta Mu Lambda Charitable Foundation and Theta Mu Lambda chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity identify potential partners such as community organizations, churches, schools, and businesses to participate in the program.
  2. Donation Collection: Partners and donors are encouraged to donate new, unwrapped toys, books, and games for children up to 12. Donations are accepted at designated drop-off locations, including partnering organizations and the Theta Mu Lambda chapter.
  3. Gift Distribution: The Theta Mu Lambda Charitable Foundation and Theta Mu Lambda chapter work together to sort and distribute the collected gifts to needy families. The gifts are wrapped and distributed to participating families’ homes.
  4. Follow-up: The Theta Mu Lambda Charitable Foundation follows up with participating partners and families to ensure that the program meets their needs and identifies areas for improvement for future programs.

Overall, the Grandma’s Help for Christmas program provides a valuable service to low-income families in the south suburbs of Chicago by spreading holiday cheer and easing the financial burden on struggling families.
